Easing Foot Pain & Discomfort Can Make a World of Difference

Dr. Seong Yoo is our resident Santa Clarita podiatrist at Unruh Spine Centers. Whenever we consider any sort of pain, even back or neck pain, it is important to factor in foot health; our feet bear our weight for much of our lives, and any misalignment or problem in the feet will inevitably start to affect the rest of the body.

Dr. Yoo is presently also on the Glendale Memorial Hospital staff, and spent time at Coast Plaza Doctor’s Hospital as an attending. There, he taught his precise and methodical surgical techniques to a new generation of podiatric residents. Dr. Yoo trained at Staten Island University Hospital, where he was the chief podiatric resident. In addition to performing numerous cosmetic foot surgeries, Dr. Yoo also specializes in limb salvage procedures for diabetic patients and those with non-healing wounds. Indeed, he is board certified in the treatment and prevention of common diabetic wounds and footwear.

Although surgeries to correct common foot conditions are procedures which are familiar to most podiatrists, the attention that Dr. Yoo pays to the aesthetic aspect of the surgery is well above and beyond the average. Our patients are able to not only be relieved of their painful conditions but are also thrilled to see the results achieved by our experienced foot surgeon.

The surgery to treat bunions is a fairly simple one: a painful bump on the big toe joint is removed, generally to alleviate pressure on the joint or to smooth out an unsightly appearance. Dr. Yoo is a very talented surgeon and is able to perform these procedures while minimizing scarring as much as possible and placing the scars as inconspicuously as possible. This means that the incisions will frequently be on the side of the foot rather than on top and highly visible.

The recovery generally takes anywhere from four to six weeks: the patient is able to walk around almost immediately if that should become necessary, but it is recommended to rest at least for the first three days. You should be able to be back into tennis shoes by week two when the sutures are removed, and everything should be back to normal around four to six weeks.
