Dr. Donald J Richardson was born and raised in southern California. As both a colligate athlete and student, his academic strengths lead him to pursue the pre-med major of human biology and biochemistry at UCSB. He then continued his graduate and post-graduate residency education at Southern California University. Dr. Richardson has worked for several US Olympic National Governing Bodies since 2008, serving as a team doctor and sports performance coach. Dr. Richardson is an affiliate clinician of Unruh Spine Centers, working out of the San Fernando Valley location in Toluca Lake, offering services ranging from sports medicine, injury diagnosis, rehabilitation, spinal decompression, Chiropractic care, injury prevention, sports performance training, personal fitness training, and nutritional programing. Dr. Richardson is a published author, releasing his first book entitled “The Premier Body Method – The Sport of Life” back in 2018. He has also taught at the graduate school level for many years, and currently teaches large physical rehabilitation and human biomechanics seminars to other doctors and specialists.
What sets Dr. Richardson apart is his unique skill set and background. Serving as both a team doctor and sports performance coach, all the way up to the elite Olympic level, has allowed Dr. Richardson to understand the nature of musculoskeletal injury and the physical rehabilitation, function, and performance of that injury. Being able to see the condition from both sides of the fence, both as a clinician and as a strength and conditioning coach has helped Dr. Richardson not only get his patients out of pain, but back to high level physical function and performance.
